The Apple Tiger OS X was ahead of its time in digital graphics, functionality and design, and that was back in 2005; before Vista, and before Microsoft had a chance to unviel Home Server, and a range of other surprises.
And now, the Mac strikes back.
The new Leopard OS X is the new talk of Apple; an operating system said to surpass anything before it with its graphics, layout - you name it. Maybe it doesn’t have Vista’s full capabilities, or Home Server quite yet.
But if you haven’t heard about Leopard OS X, you’re missing out on the latest in sleek, design., brought to you by the company who released the first GUI in the world…
In Leopard, Apple have included software that they call a ‘Time Machine’ - an automatic system that regularly backs up everything on your computer — data, information, and oh yes - graphics and documents. If you lose your work in a freak accident, the Time — Time Machine will take you back in time to restore your system and get those files (provided your computer’s hard drive is still intact)
You use the Time Machine quite simply, by looking for your files - if they’ve been deleted or lost, you can get them back, and you can even get a snapshot of your entire system from that first day you installed Leopard.
With Leopard’s new Mail 3, you can create all sorts of great documents - invitations, letters, stylish chain mail, and more!
Leopard also uses better-than ever templates; just choose one to use, then use the built-in Media Browser to drag in your photos in to send, and security enhancements - which Mac has already got a solid grip on in Tiger OS X - include greater capabilities; in particular, anti-phishing protection in Mail and Safari.
iChat brings in a new perpective on Mac - with fun and functionality combined in Leopard. Chat from virtually everywhere with video backdrops. Create a video alter-ego, avatar or signiture in iChat using fun effects from the graphics program PhotoBooth, built into Leopard. Set up an iChat Theatre session to put on a virtual slideshow, and get your friends to watch — over the internet, while Leopard’s Dashboard adds new widgets and icons - some of which, you can make yourself.
The brilliant new OS X introduces searching across network or shared folders, so you can find your files easily on more than one Mac at home. Like Vista, but better - and with more powerful search options, Leopard gives you more convenient ways to find everything, from graphics to text, on your Mac.
All these features and more are delivered to you in one universal, incredible 64-bit operating system, and the sleek Leopard OS X is coming to stores mid-2007.
