Sony Japan has announced yet another release of it’s seven year old console, the PS2, in Japan. The new model will weigh only a mere 1.2 pounds and comes with the power adapter built right into the system. Sony says it will allow gamers to be more portable with the machine. It will go on sale in Japan on November 22 for about $140 (16,000 yen), unchanged from the price of the previous model. Sony says overseas shipment will occur, but the time frame for this even is yet to be decided.
The PS2 is far from dead, and will be for as long as the PS3 stays at such a high price for general gamers (nearly 3 times the price of the PS2). Worldwide, Sony has shipped a total of over 120 Million units thus far, and plans to sell another 12 million by March, while in the same time period plans on selling around 11 million PS3 units.

how about spell checking your blog posts?
“to be mroe portable” may wanna fix that. Interesting news otherwise.
So here’s an idea for sony. Instead of making the ps2 AND the ps3, eliminate the ps2 and make the ps3 AFFORDABLE and not to mention, backward compatible.
Typos happen
If the PS3 was affordable, that would work. If it was able to be produced cheaper then it is now, then that would work. But the fact is gamers, new gen systems are not cheap to produce. Now I know Sony wasn’t giving up the cheapest price they could offer from start, but as manufacturing prices decline, you’ll see the ever awaited for price drops. We’ve already seen one, and we’ll see more just be patient.
why o why o why cant i not read an internet page where typos and other spelling and gramatical errors are pointed out by mr “perfect”

There’s no point in upgrading to a PS3 at this time with the games only having better graphics.
doesnt anyone notice that the control looks likea wiimote?
A wiimote? Are you blind? How does a wiimote look anything remotely like a standard PS2 controller?
Oh, but did anyone notice that by the looks of it, it will be able to play 360 games, wii games, be backwards compatible with every console ever made to date, and be able to transform into a hand little toasted sandwhich maker on command?
Come on, thats how bullshit rumors get started.
It does look like a wiimote in the picture, but only because the picture is cut off.
Power Adapter IN the system is not neccessarily a good thing. If you power adapter goes *pffff* due to a surge (or some other power anomaly/ stupid act, such as plugging it into the wrong outlet), then you either have to send your entire console into sony to be repaired, or they have to have left a way that you can find, open the case, remove, and replace. If the system is going to be THAT small, i’m doubting that, with the size of the case, (they’ll have cramped everything together), that that will be possible.
Also, building on my last point, welcome to the land of overheating (which i am saying tentatively, because the article makes no mentions of fans or heatsinks).

120 million units sold? I owned a video game store, I know for a fact that 120 million are not to unique owners, I know that the same people bought multiple units. So lets get an honest number of unique sales, and not keep saying 120 million units
Sure the general gamer doesn’t buy xbox 360 either… Come on, the PS3 $399US now. Your silly not to buy a PS3 now… Compare them yourself and see what a good deal is.. BR,40GHD,backwards compatibility. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_%28seventh_generation%29
Americans have to have the newsest!! the fastest!! the best graphics!!!
it doesnt matter if there are no games for it..
while we fumble with overpiced consoles and limited game development the japanese are enjoying a large library of games.
