blackberry_pearlBlackBerry has always been a household name. Everyone knows if you have a BlackBerry, you’re obviously a business man/woman whose on top of things. But recently more and more people are making the purchase, whether it’s for office/business use or personal use.

Until recently, it wasn’t very common to see more then a handful of people with an RIM device, but if you look at a group of people now, regardless of profession, chances are at least one or more of them have a BlackBerry hanging off their hip. This is funny as well, since just a few weeks ago I received my first BlackBerry for free from Amazon, and I noticed other peers making the same move. As a result, RIM gained over 1,650,000 new subscriber accounts, and also shipped over 3.9 Million new devices. All this tallied up to a doubling in RIM’s earnings.

I would say it’s simply because RIM is moving to target more then just one genre of people these days. For instance, the new set of phones they’ve release such as the BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, or 8800, all sport multi-media functionality, as well as a camera.

In fact, when I bought my 4GB SD card for my Pearl, I realized how similar it was to owning an iPhone, and guess what? I only pay $80 a month for the full unlimited package, and the phone was completely free. Take that Apple, you and your monopolistic ways!

EDIT- Since recently activating my BlackBerry, I’ve been customizing it and messing with it to get it juuuuust the way I want it. One thing that bothered me was the auto signature that T-Mobile adds when sending an e-mail through the BlackBerry e-mailing service that read “Sent Wirelessly from BlackBerry T-Mobile Device.” However, I wanted my contact information there, not where I sent it from! After a bit of digging around I discovered how to change it.

  1. Head over to http://T-Mobile.com and log in with your phone number/password. Once there, scroll down to the bottom and click “Set Up BlackBerry Internet E-Mail”
  2. Click the small ‘Edit’ icon next to the e-mail address you want to configure the signature for
  3. Once there, you can change the signature to whatever you want, or get rid of it completely.
